Flowers among friends.
New cute and sweet-themed arrivals at the Shibuya 109 e-Shop from (left) Ruvap, LIZ LISA, and Ober Tashe. I could see these appealing to girls of many different styles, not just gal!

The Shibuya 109 Girls Festival 2012 held earlier on May 12th was a total fashion extravaganza! Besides a runway show, attendees were treated to appearances by popular gal models, fashion personalities as well as music performances by Kana Nishino and Korean girl group After School. The runway stage was split into two parts: the first half, “free stage”, included young and up and coming brands like Neon Soda, AGAINST, FIG&VIPER, and mercy; the second, “premium stage,” showcased verteran brands including rienda, SPIRAL GIRL, CECIL McBEE, EGOIST, and LIZ LISA. Those interested can conveniently purchase items from the show here.
And the timing couldn’t really be more perfect for gal fashion enthusiasts. While the Tokyo Girls Collection has long played host to the likes of LIZ LISA and CECIL McBEE, the majority of its runway lineup for the past few seasons has consisted more of contemporary women’s labels rather than recognized gal brands. Despite this, events like the Shibuya 109 Festival make it clear that there’s still enthusiasm for gal brands—both old and new—as well as the Shibuya fashion culture they continue to shape.

So much variety! Additional photos can be found here. Now check out these snaps of models Yunkoro, Natsumi Saito, and Nemoyayo, showing off their 109 Festival style (Source).

Fresh coordinates from LIZ LISA featuring a few of their early spring releases. Various pieces can be purchased here. Too cute!
Winter is right around the corner, and for many of us, that means trying to stay warm while attempting to stay stylish. Inspired by Brad’s recent round-ups of personally picked fashion items, here are some picks of my own, sorted by style!
Grown-up Glamour

The sassy ladies among us will appreciate this spotted number from Spiral Girl. Luxuriously warm rabbit fur is sure to make an impression no matter where you go, and taking a closer look inside, you get a real taste of detail-oriented, Japanese style. Even the lining has attitude! Also available in solid beige.
Refined Retro

Also from Spiral Girl, this wool coat is no plain Jane. Lift the collar and you’ll find a hidden collar buckle—so sophisticated! The double-breasted style also works perfectly with this season’s very trendy retro fashions. Also available in navy.
Girly Sweet

I don’t think I could make a post about gal fashion and not mention LIZ LISA! This textured wool parka is loaded with adorable touches, whether it’s the satin-lined hood, lace and pleated bottom, or bow in the back. And the fuzzy trim? Very in this winter.
Cool Rock

It feels like GILFY releases a version of this coat every winter and it’s easy to see why—it’s a total classic! The chain toggle closures add some extra toughness no bad girl should be without while the fur trimming is, again, very trendy. Even better, the hood and fur are also removable, giving you a range of looks to choose from. Available in several colors.
Mode Chic

Get a unique look with this wool-blend cocoon coat from SLY. This is an excellent example of form and function coexisting in a single item! The large, scarf-like collar and built-in wrist warmers are both stylish and practical choices for winter.

Cute and sweet coordinates from LIZ LISA (top) and Rojita (bottom). Various pieces can be purchased here.
Liz Lisa has been hosting auditions all over Japan to form a team of LL Gals (along with LL Petit auditions for its children’s line). The LL Gals will be used to convey the image of Liz Lisa in fashion shows, live appearances and promotional campaigns for the upcoming A/W 2011 collection.
New fall coordinates from LIZ LISA. The seasonal concept is “Royal Lady~Neo Retro British~.” As always, the brand has managed to combine their signature style with trendy themes, in this case, retro-girly styling and rich autumn colors like brown and burgundy.

Looking lovely. Tsubasa Masuwaka, during a LIZ LISA press event.

Spring has just begun, but believe it or not, LIZ LISA has already debuted their early summer releases! Take a look below or check out all the photos here on the brand shopping site. Which looks or pieces are your favorites?

It’s all about the details! Summery straw tote bags get the LIZ LISA treatment with multiple flower corsages.

A couple spring trends here, including wedge sandals and wide, hippie-inspired bell bottom jeans.

A styling point to try: embroidered white peasant tops brightened up with colorful bohemian jewelry. Loving the loose fluttery sleeves on several of these pieces, too.

Here’s LIZ LISA’s take on the light denim trend. Something tells me that sailor-style one piece is going to be a big hit this coming season.

Coral is such a beautiful color for summer. And the romper on the right? Simply perfect!

Summer wouldn’t be complete without bikinis. I especially like the wrap wedge sandals Yui Kanno is sporting on the right. They look similar to what models were wearing for the 2011 collection shown at JFW. (Check out coverage from that event here.)

New Chambre à Coucher goods, including cute Champouf mascot plushes!
