Here’s what’s new:
As we recently posted, we released of Buying From Japan – a beginner’s guide to buying Japanese fashion on the web. The difficulty curve of getting into Japanese fashion is steep; this guide is designed to arm you with the knowledge you need to start importing clothes from Japan today.
It’s so soft and beautiful. So flowy and lightweight; it’s almost a shame that the reservation period had it arriving at the end of summer rather than the beginning. It’s still warm in Toronto, though, so I’ll get some use out of it this year.
Silk crape with incredible texture. Weighs all of 0.5 nanograms. Dangly cords everywhere. Huge hood. Timeless and Classic by virtue of being really fucking weird. I like it though, despite/because how far out of my comfort zone it is, how it’s almost a museum piece in its in-your-face anti-functionality.
And that’s it for this update! If like our Tumblr, you’ll love our community, so check it out.
We’re thrilled to announce the release of Buying From Japan – a beginner’s guide to buying Japanese fashion on the web.
The difficulty curve of getting into Japanese fashion is steep, and in particular, getting clothes from stores that ship only within Japan can be difficult. This guide is designed to arm you with the knowledge you need to start importing clothes from Japan today.
Ouret Spring-Summer 2014
Great use of colors and materials all around. Check out the full collection at Offside.
Angelic Pretty is breaking out of their baby-sweet streak with this new gothic motif series, Holy Lantern. We’re digging the lavender sleeved version with matching tights – what’s your favourite?
The set will be going on sale September 21st and AP has instituted some strict purchasing limits to ward off scalpers. We’ll see how it ends up going in practice.

(Left: Alice and the Pirates Wicked Princess, released 2013.Right: Baby the Stars Shine Bright’s Claudia, released 2011.)
One of Alice and the Pirates' recent releases, the Wicked Princessdress is clearly reminiscent of Baby the Stars Shine Bright’s Claudia design that was released back in 2011. (As it happens, Claudia is one of my all-time favourite lolita designs.)
Wicked Princess seems like an attempt at improving the design, one which largely succeeds. The child-like innocence of Claudia is replaced with whimsy and fantasy. The longer, fuller skirt is almost battle-worn in its appearance, with the darker fabric panels keeping the white from becoming overbearing.
Which design do you prefer?
