Peace Now Inc Japan, operators of the brands Peace Now, Black Peace NowBlack Peace Now for Men and Gadget Grow announced that they have filed for bankruptcy protection, under the weight of about $4 million USD in debt. Their Japanese stores have begun closing immediately.

The following was posted on their US website:

As many of you have heard from various sources, Peace Now Inc Japan had filed for bankruptcy protection on May 6th 2013.

Peace Now USA operates independently from it’s Japanese parent company, and we will continue to operate until further notice. Please note, we will no longer accept special order requests, and we will unlikely to stock additional products from here forward.

If you are a fan of Peace Now and Black Peace Now, this is probably the last chance and the only source to collect a piece of this iconic brand, and a piece of gothic lolita history.

Thank you for your continual support throughout these years.

From all of us at Peace Now USA.

On the lookout.

Yesterday, the Sainte-Dolorès lolita event was held here in Québec. While I was unfortunately unable to attend, there were plenty of great photos taken.
This one is easily my favourite, showcasing the best of Québec’s lolita scene. These three (from left to right: Audrey, Sonia and Fanny) have developed styles that are completely their own.
Thanks to Mlle Chèvre for the photo!

A beautiful gothic fantasy come to life at alice auaa A/W 2012.

The theme of the collection is “my private garden,” but these looks were too gorgeous for us to keep a secret! Check out the rest of this rich and sumptuous collection here.

Black cat.

There is a lot of hype going around the lolita community right now about Moi-même-Moitié’s latest print series, Sleeping Garden. Personally, while it’s a decent dress, I don’t think the stratospheric level of praise is deserved.

The attempt at overlaying a single image over the entire skirt is not new, but to me this seems like a poorly executed attempt to recreate the sense of drama that Juliette et Justine’s now famous Féerie series was able to capture.

The painted image on Juliette et Justine is beautiful in and of itself, but does not overwhelm the dress — it elegantly fades into the fabric itself. The Moitié dress’s image is, by comparison, slapped on — the image covers the entire skirt with no sense of gradiation.

Furthermore, the Sleeping Garden print is simply too photographic. It looks like a rather badly photoshopped photograph of a cemetery, something more welcome on a gothic community website’s banner than on a $400+ dress.

Generally my feelings on Moitié are mixed — some pieces are stellar whereas others, such as this, fall flat. However, I’m no lolita, and I’d love to hear some girls who love this series explain what they love about it.

It is really hard to do corset lacing on pants without looking cheesy. This is a good example of how to do it.
