UNDERCOVER FOR UNIQLO’S FALL/WINTER ‘12 “UU” FINAL CAMPAIGN

Designer Jun Takahashi was able to bring his UNDERCOVER brand to a much lower pricepoint by collaborating with massive retailer Uniqlo, so it only makes sense that they would do one more collection!

Drawing on Takahashi’s post-modern UNDERCOVER design tendencies, this Uniqlo collaboration (featuring insane images of giant insects playing instruments) will feature a full range of contemporary garments utilizing and mixing top-notch Uniqlo performance technology and fabrics; the pieces will feature Heat Tech and Ultra Light Down, among other signature Uniqlo innovations. We’re into it!

“UNDERCOVER X UNIQLO” — New Project Begins
UNIQLO Co. Ltd. and Undercover Co. Ltd. entered into an agreement on June 1, 2011 to begin collaborating on designs for a new clothing line. The collaboration pieces are planned to be launched in Spring 2012, with the opening of [a] flagship store in Ginza, Tokyo.
The Undercover brand was started in 1989 by the designer Mr. Jun Takahashi, while he was still a student at Bunka Fashion College. In 1994, the brand appeared in the Tokyo Collection for the first time, achieving instant popularity. Undercover Co. Ltd. was established in 2000.
The company currently produces clothing under a number of brands, including UNDERCOVER for women and UNDERCOVERISM for men.
The details of the new project will be released as they are determined.

This is very big news! Many people were wondering about Uniqlo’s next designer collaboration after Jil Sander announced her resignation from the +J project (to relatively few complaints). For me, this is a much more interesting proposition; Undercover has been a leader in Japanese streetwear for some time now. News will be posted here as soon as it’s available!
While I doubt we will ever see anything so beautiful from this collaboration, here’s a shot of my favourite UNDERCOVERISM piece:

Raquel Zimmerman for +J by Uniqlo. Very obviously Japanese inspired look.
