One of Alice and the Pirates' recent releases, the Wicked Princessdress is clearly reminiscent of Baby the Stars Shine Bright’s Claudia design that was released back in 2011. (As it happens, Claudia is one of my all-time favourite lolita designs.)
Wicked Princess seems like an attempt at improving the design, one which largely succeeds. The child-like innocence of Claudia is replaced with whimsy and fantasy. The longer, fuller skirt is almost battle-worn in its appearance, with the darker fabric panels keeping the white from becoming overbearing.
Which design do you prefer?

Wearing Claudia the Fairytale Princess
Baby the Stars Shine Bright’s Claudia dress is one of my favourite lolita pieces of all time. It’s easy to see why.
Lolita brand Baby the Stars Shine Bright has collaborated with the Vantan Design Institute in Tokyo to produce two items designed by students at the school. “Paris Princess” (left) will be produced under the Baby the Stars Shine Bright label, while the ”Marie Antoinette” (right) will be produced under sister-brand Alice and the Pirates. Both items will be available September 16th.

The lolita masters at Baby, the Stars Shine Bright have stirred up quite a bit of controversy with their new Claudia, the Fairytale Princess series. Particularly, it’s the most expensive one-piece that they’re currently offering, priced at ¥44,100.
For what it’s worth, my opinion is that this dress has a clearly high level of detail that makes it worth the premium price. This is a dress that is meant to be worn and loved for a very long time; if you’re already laying down for a Baby OP, what’s an extra ¥10,000 - 20,000? This is one of the nicest series released in a long time; enjoy it.
You can reserve any of the new items at Baby’s website now!
